Second Post 50-100 pg

Owen went up to a cabin on the side of a mountain a little ways away from where the Kernohans are living. While he was there, he met a girl named Marny Fox, and her step father, Mowatt, was the leader of the group of men that are trying to run the Kernohans out of the area. The Kernohans however, are not going to leave the area, and Doby's father sent him out to get rail posts for a fence they are going to build. When he goes back to get the posts, he decides to go up to the cabin on the side of the mountain, and while he is there, he runs into some trouble. Three men came up on horses, one of them was the man that Doby beat up. They beat Doby up pretty good, and he is laying there going in and out of conciousness when Marny finds him there. She went and got Owen for help. They get Doby back home and he gets better. Owen goes back up to that cabin, and he is trying to find any clue that his brother might have left that would tell him where the treasure is. Marny runs off from the Mowatt gang, and there are four members of the gang trying to find her. Owen goes out to find her before they do, because he is worried that they will hurt her, and while he is looking for her he meets a gray old man that has lived in the hills in the area for years.

my reading history

The only time that I ever read is usually when I am reading about sports, either in the newspaper or a magazine, or when I am reading the comic strips in the newspaper. When I was younger, I used to read some in school. The type of books I read then were mysteries. My favorite books to read then were The Magic Treehouse, and Hank the Cowdog. These books were very simple to understand, and they were fun to read.
Now as I said earlier, I don't read anymore, besides the magazine Sports Illustrated. I quit reading in middle school, when I started playing sports and hunting. I probably should read more but it is just boring and I would rather go play some video games or go do something outside, like a sport or walking around in the mountains. I like to those things way more than just sit around and read.

First Post

Louis L'Amour
Over On The Dry Side
October 1975
We are reading a book for our Honors English class. I chose this one. It is the story of a man and his son who are traveling west to go find a place to build a home. They come up upon a house that is called the Chantry place, and on the front step there is a dead man laying there. They decide that this is the place that they are going to stay and live, and they bury the dead guy, who they assume is Chantry. By the looks of things, they come to the conclusion that it wasn't indians that killed the man, it was white men. While they are starting to get settled in, a stranger on a horse comes, and they find out his name is Owen Chantry, the dead man's brother. He says he is glad that they are staying there and stays with them. A group of bad white guys comes riding up, and they threaten the three of them, and tell them they need to be gone by that night. If they aren't gone, they are going to burn the house down with them in it. Owen shoots one of the guys fingers off, and Doby, the son, gets into a fight with one of them and beats him up pretty badly.
