Conflict and Resolution

The conflict in the story is that the Mowatt gang wants the Kernohans out of the area and they want to find the treasure. They try to intimidate them to drive them out, but they aren't going to leave. The resolution is when the gang goes to burn their house and kill them, but the Kernohans saw them coming and got out of there in time. There is a big battle over the next few days, and in the end, most of the members of the Mowatt gang got killed, and the ones that did survive left the area. The Kernohans stayed and lived there after that.
